Rated 6th most influential EU blog by Waggener Edstrom. European of British nationality, for nearly 30 years Bruxellois. Deep believer in the principle of 'mutuality' and Monnet's axiom "Thought cannot be divorced from action", equivalent to Wang Yangming's "Zhixingheyi".

I strongly support the Chinese government's stance on the Dalai Lama. That is he can come back as a spiritual leader and negociate about his own personal future.
Why?
First, I don't want any god-king combination in any part of China. We are in the 21st century. No, thank you very much. If you Europeans are so into it, give the DL your France and let him bless you for 2 francs per head.
Second, I don't like his proposal. If I as a Chinese have to apply for permission to enter his Greater Tibet (1/4 of China), then how can I consider this area my country? What is the differance between going to America and Tibet? At least America would let me own land if I have the money. What absurd proposal?
The future of EC Europe and China depends on BOTH sides. You are the west. We are the east. If the west keeps coming down on us from your moral high ground and keeps pushing down our throats with your garbbage in the way of self righteous
values, I don't have a positive outlook. China, with its 5000 years of civilization, has its own sets of values and does not appreciate your condescension, much less your manipulations.
Believe what you want to believe and do what you want. Our next generations can meet yours at trade shows, schools, shopping malls or battlefields. Whatever your choice is, we will be there. But we do want peace and harmony, the most important element in our culture.
Right now, boycott France. French cosmetics, wines, cheese, chocolates, perfumes, Michelence tires, Paris, French tours out of my life!

from what I've heard from a friend that witnessed the Dalai Lama's intervention in the European Parliament, European MPs were more than excited at his intervention and overall there was great enthusiasm over his presence... don't know if I should read more into this than the fact he is a very charming character/ speaker.

Tibet is just a jetton the West uesd to contend against China.
they don't care whether Tibet is poverty, cruelty, slavery or humanity, compassion, and peace.
The West even know little about Tibet, their concern is that Dalai Lama is antiadministration, anti-CCP.
it is international Game Playing.

If you west really want to know well about Tibet, Please come to Tibet to observe and study. you can ask the Tibetans the change of their life behind the abolishing of serfdom. Please don't listen to only one side of Dalai Lama.

There is a big gap the Chinese and European perceptions of the Tibet problem.

For Chinese, the Dalai Lama represents feudal theocracy: poverty, cruelty,
and slavery.

For the Europeans, the DL represents a Shangri-La: humanity, compassion, and peace.

Unfortunately, these perceptions are not going to change anytime soon.
